I have been painting for over 25 years. I am originally Canadian. I grew up in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the world with many lakes, forests and streams. I now live in San Diego, California.
I like to paint people doing what they love to do. My paintings generally have one or more people. I try to capture the passion and emotion of the people I paint in the environment that they love to be. I enjoy painting musicians, especially Jazz. With my paintings, I have become to know many musicians which have enriched my life in many ways.
My paintings are in a state of evolution right now. My older paintings would typically be paintings of what I see, I am just starting to paint in a new approach. When I see perhaps a group of jazz players, I now will paint the essence or the critical components of what I see. For example, painting a close up of a saxophone player with his instrument with a close up of the hands touching the instrument using a background that blends and integrates the key painting components. I have just started this metamorphism, I think it is a direction that will create wonderful powerful paintings.
